Schubas Tavern, 3159 N. Southport Ave, Chicago, IL is pleased to announce the return of the benefit music series “Covers For Cover 7” on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 8PM. Tickets are available for $12 in advance at www.lh-st.com, or $15 at the door.
In this season of giving thanks, local female musicians give back to the Chicago community by rocking out at “Covers For Cover 7". After years of performing original music shows, these musicians pay homage to their favorite punk, new wave, classic rock and hip hop bands to benefit KAN-WIN, a domestic violence center for women.
Many of these groups are created just for this benefit. Bands covered this year include Madonna, Aerosmith, En Vogue, BeeGees, and Fleetwood Mac.
This fun benefit is emceed by Rattina, the joke-telling, teenage, female, rat puppet from the cult-TV music show, “Chic-A-Go-Go”.
The mission of KAN-WIN is to eradicate all forms of violence against women, including domestic violence and sexual assault, by empowering Asian American survivors and engaging the community through culturally competent services, community education and outreach, and advocacy.
The “Covers For Cover” music benefit series began in 2006 and has raised almost $10,000 for local women's homeless shelters, including Deborah’s Place, Sarah's Circle, Connections for Abused Women and their Children, Institute of Women Today, Primo Center and Teen Living Programs.
