A couple of summers ago arch-collaborators and fellow renaissance dudes Walter Salas-Humara of the Silos and Jon Langford of the Mekons came together for a night of music, art and mayhem in Chicago and this has become something of an annual tradition that now spreads like a great nourishing fungi all across the country - On this year's exhausting mini-tour the two band leaders and visual artists have chosen Schubas in Chicago for the closing night bash.
You've heard Walter Salas-Humara fronting the Silos and collaborating with Jonathan Lethem on the I'm Not Jim project BUT have you seen his dog paintings? Please don't bring your dogs to the show as Walter paints from memory not life and there's always a mess if too many excited puppies show up!
You've heard Jon Langford screaming above the Waco Brothers hard country roar just about every Christmas since Korea, (and seen his deft dance steps with the Mekons on YouTube) BUT have you seen his creepy dark skeletal honky tonk art?
Come celebrate the return of Jon and Walter to the Chicago stage; they bring fierce songs, acoustical guitars they made in prison out of toothpicks, fierce thirsts, much art and a pair of bongo drums to write home about! Come early! Come often!
